Tessa and Silke.
The story about Tessa and Silke is a short one because they were only together for about 3 months.
When Silke came to my house - and decided that she would stay here for the rest of her life - Tessa almost adopted Silke.  Tessa never had a kitten of her own. She raised Tam-Tam when he came here as a little 12 weeks kitten and she did the same with Silke. At that time Tessa wasn't so sick that I knew there was something wrong with her. She played with Silke and showed her a lot of things that a mom-cat shows the kittens.
I guess that Silke lost her own catfamily/mom and when she ended up here she must have been on her own for quit a long time. She looked terrible and her one eye was filled with inflammation. The vets took care of that but I have a feeling that she is blind on that eye because it don't look normal anymore. But never the less Tessa loved that little poor kitten. They slept together and whereever Tessa went the little Silke also went. Tessa showed her all her favorite places - and that's where Silke is laying now when Tessa has gone.
When Tessa was weaker she couldn't play with Silke anylonger, but then they just were laying together. It was like Silke knew that Tessa was not so strong anymore.  The last days Silke - and Tam-Tam - just came and looked at Tessa and gave her a little kiss and went off again. I sure believe that those two cats knew that Tessa was very sick.
Well it is really peculiarly that Silke came here - out of nowhere - when Tessa had so little time left. Silke and Tessa were both females and were so much alike. They had exactly the same colors, the only difference was that Tessa was a longhaired cat and Silke is a shorthaired.
I will never ever forget Tessa but it helps me a lot that I have got little Silke. She is such a good and wonderful little cat, and I'm sure glad she chose this house for her future home.
